Description
The Philips HeartStart FRx Defibrillator is a rugged, reliable, and easy-to-use semi-automatic external defibrillator (AED) designed for first responders and public access, featuring intuitive voice instructions and adaptive therapy for both adult and child patients.
- Intuitive Voice Guidance: The device provides clear, calm, step-by-step voice instructions (known as Life Guidance) that are paced to the user’s actions, guiding them through the entire rescue process, including pad placement and shock delivery.
- CPR Coaching: It includes voice coaching with an audible metronome to help responders provide chest compressions at the appropriate rate and depth, which is crucial for effective CPR.
- SMART Pads II: The pre-connected SMART Pads II can be used on both adults and children, eliminating the need to purchase separate pediatric pads. When the optional Infant/Child Key is inserted, the device automatically adjusts the voice instructions and reduces the shock energy to a level appropriate for a child victim (50 Joules nominal).
- Rugged Design: Built for use in demanding environments, the FRx is lightweight yet durable. It has an IP55 rating for protection against dust and jetting water and can withstand drops up to 1.2 meters (4 feet) and crushing forces of over 500 kg (1,100 lbs).
- Quick Shock Technology: This feature allows the FRx to typically deliver a shock within 8 seconds after the end of a CPR interval, minimizing interruptions to chest compressions and improving potential survival rates.
- SMART Analysis: The device’s intelligent sensors automatically assess the patient’s heart rhythm and will only advise or deliver a shock if a shockable rhythm (ventricular fibrillation or certain ventricular tachycardias) is detected, ensuring safety and preventing accidental shocks.
- Automated Self-Tests: The FRx performs comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly self-tests to check its internal circuitry, battery capacity, and pad readiness (including gel moisture), indicated by a blinking green “Ready” light.
- Long-Life Battery: The lithium manganese dioxide battery typically has a standby life of four years when installed and maintained correctly.
- Data Management: Event data, including the first 15 minutes of ECG and incident details, can be transmitted wirelessly via an infrared data port to a PC for review using optional software.
